This was a fantastic experience! The feedback video was wonderfully made, curated and extremely valuable to me as a first time filmmaker! It’s a pity more fests don’t offer something like this. I didn’t attend the festival in person but was impressed to see the large crowd size in photos and really appreciated all the thoughtful communication and support for my film.

5 Star Review

MASQUERADE, 10min., USA, LGBT/Drama
Directed by Andrew Hawkins

1848 Virginia. Slave couple Sam and Ninny execute an escape after their slave master George makes an unconscionable advance. ‘Masquerade, A Story of the Old South’ is an uncommon slave narrative, capturing the experience of both African Americans and gay people during this complicated time. CLICK HERE – and see full info and more pics of the film!

The theme of the July 2018 LGBT FEEDBACK Film Festival in Los Angeles was “The Status Quo is Impossible”.

For the 2nd time in three months the city of Toronto was mourning a random mass killing the week of the festival. It’s still a shock to the city that something like this could have occured.

On Sunday night the ticket sales for this event were low. Then by the time Tuesday morning rolled around, we were sold out. I think part of that reason is people wanted to come out and support the city of Toronto. Not stay inside closed doors out of fear. There was something inspirational about this festival night. No one brought up what just occured early that week but everyone was thinking about it.

This was a great night showcasing the best of LGBT films from around the world. A beautiful, sophisicated crowd who was very much into the dicussion of the shorts presented.

See you at the festivals.

The theme of the LGBT/Under 5 Minute FEEDBACK Film Festival was “Finding Identity”. Every single film shown was about this overriding thematic.

The MVP of the festival was the Toronto audience. This wasn’t the greatest week for the Greater Toronto Area as someone decided to rent a van and run over people on a sidewalk in a busy intersection. This became a world story as there were many casualties and major injuries. Perhaps one of the saddest events in Toronto history.

#TorontoStrong became the hashtag. You can still google this and learn more about the victim and how to donate.

Less than 72 hours after this horrific event this festival took place. And it was a sold out event. We were all in our healing stages and wouldn’t let this situation stop us.

This was a festival to bring Torontians together and to be entertained by these films. And to talk about storytelling and movies – something we all have in common.

A festival that will be remembered for years to come for many reasons. Thank you Toronto! Let’s stay strong, move forward, and learn from horrible situations like these.

See you at the festivals.

The LGBT DECEMBER 2017 FEEDBACK Film Festival gave our audiences simply the best of short movies from this community.

The theme of the festival was “HIDING/FINDING your true self”.

Every film showcased was about a character(s) needing to find who they really are in this crazy world.

The LGBT FEEDBACK Film Festival started as a tiny seed in July 2016 in it’s preparation for having 2 short film fest events each year, starting in 2017. One would be for the best of LGBT Short Films, and the other would be for the best of LGBT Documentary Shorts. What happened was that the seed grew faster than we every imagined and because of that a 3rd festival was added.

.

Kierston Drier (who also moderated the event) was the main programmer for the DECEMBER 2017 Festival. She has worked for WILDsound for the last 2 years and is the driving force for future LGBT FEEDBACK Film Festival events.

You always know you had a great festival when all the films receive multiple votes for BEST FILM of the night from the audience. The animation/LGBT romance IN A HEARTBEAT was the winner, but by the slimmest of margins.

We are so proud of this festival so far. We can’t wait for 2018.

See you at the festivals.
